Even if you're on the ice...

The fashion police would definitely have something to say about some of the outfits on show at the Olympics ice skating finals.
Leading the way was Swiss couple, Antoine Dorsaz, 20, and 16-year-old Anais Morand, in the pairs event.
They took to the ice for their long programme wearing what can only be described as 'chav-tastic' Burberry-themed costumes.
Anais sported sported very short shorts in the English firm's classic check, while her partner wore regular long trousers with the same design.
The couple added insult to injury by wearing tight white tee-shirts with Burberry tartan braces printed on them.
Unfortunately Morand took a tumble during their routine and they only managed 15th place out of 20.

It was during the short programme that Ukrainian pairs skaters Stanislav Morozov and Tatiana Volosozhar set the standard for unusual outfits when they took to the ice in shiny blue unitards.
One onlooker said: 'Even if they don't win, you won't forget those outfits in a hurry.'

Jarvis Cocker visited our Degraves St subway store today and bought a paisley shirt.

He was very nice, not like this picture at all.

We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine... (1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes the dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
(4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three metre exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman. Here comes the important part:
(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL....More routine......
(6) The woman goes inside to organise the plates and cutlery.
(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat Important again:
(8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN. More routine...
(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. And most important of all:
(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his incredible cooking ability.
(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed her ‘night off’ and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women!

The Knockouts vocalist Ginger Nutts is taking Saturday date night off to play with her band at the Great Britain Hotel in Richmond this weekend.

Though a large number of Melbourne men are disappointed, Ginger says "They must understand -The Knockouts is my first love."

An original four piece band, The Knockouts sound something like The B52s, Pulp Fiction, Patsy Cline and The Outcasts colliding with an out of control freight train driven by the Sex Pistols. Somebody said that watching The Knockouts is like getting a punch in the face and a kiss at the same time.

Guitar pickin', upright bass slappin' hillbilly outfit The Rechords will also rock the GB with their rock/hill/r&billy set.

See Ginger and the lads go Nutts at this fun gig at the Great Britain Hotel, Church St, Richmond, Saturday November 7.

Investment Dressing: Does It Exist?

I'm thinking about investment dressing and I'm wondering how you know that what you're buying really is a classic? And aren't classics often dull?

And how do you know you'll still like something in the future? A friend of mine just bought a VERY pricey dress and she told me she justified her purchase because she intends to keep wearing it when she's 70 - 30 years away!!!

No matter how much a piece of clothing cost or how much I loved it originally... friends, I get bored. The classic, expensive Kate Slyvester skirt I saved up for (even though it was on sale) I recycled a couple of years later, hardly worn.

The soft, black Italian leather jacket... suddenly, I didn't like the way the lapels sat - so out it went!

Perhaps that's why I love stores like MUFF. I know that when I do make an investment, if I go off it, I can still get a happy return!
